This appointment type is for student pilots who are unclear of what pilot medical certification class is most suited to their situation. It is advised that those who select this appointment type apply for a "3rd Class Medical Certificate" when completing their FAA MedXpress application. Dr. Cannell will discuss the different medical certification types at the time of the visit and adjust the application accordingly.

To be eligible for a BasicMed pilot clearance exam you must possess a valid U.S. driver's license, have held a FAA pilot medical certification after July 14th 2006, and not have a medical condition that requires a Special Issuance authorization (i.e. mental health disorder, neurologic disorder and/or cardiovascular condition).

Gain insight into the FAA airman medical certification process for a medical and/or legal history that is known to be or may be disqualifying. The cost for this service includes the face-to-face consultation, emailed after visit summary, and ongoing email correspondence pertaining to the reason for the visit. An additional $200/hour charge is applied to assist in generating a formal case to the FAA for consideration to hold an airman medical certificate when a condition or history is disqualifying.
